You should read Tim Ferriss' thoughts on this in his book Four Hour Work Week. Great insight on how to cut down on unnecessary email and phone calls...and increase efficiency. I believe he has some good thoughts about it on his blog too. http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog

Hey Steven, Thanks for passing along this post. I'm with you as far as trying to figure out what that balance is. You see effective leaders on both sides of the spectrum (as you showed through your examples). Very interesting.
